The United Nations Refugee Agency's Emergency Response Team

The UN Refugee Agency's Emergency Response Team is a specially trained group of staff ready to assist in emergencies at 72 hours notice.

In 2008 alone the team responded to more than 50 emergencies, helping to deliver life saving essentials like food, water, shelter and health care.

Supporting the Emergency Response Team with a monthly donation

Work Partners' task is to enrol donors to make a monthly gift to support the Emergency Response Team.

These ongoing donations provide the team with steady, reliable income all year round, and the support to be prepared for future emergencies, so they can go straight into action when a crisis occurs.

How donations help

$25 per month is enough for emergency survival kits including shelter, blankets and cooking sets for 2 refugee families
$50 per month is enough for all season tents for 5 families.

Mobile fundraising teams in locations around Victoria

Each day, teams of 4-6 fundraisers go to different, pre-arranged locations in metropolitan Melbourne and country Victoria.

They speak with passers by, initiating conversations about the plight of refugees and inviting them to join as a monthly donor so that they can add their support to the life-saving work of the Emergency Response Team.

The UN Refugee Agency's Emergency Response Team is poised to get to refugee and other emergencies within 72 hours in a crisis.

“Work Partners is currently recruiting each month approximately 500 new monthly donors for Australia for UNHCR.

This program commenced in June 2009 and has built up from scratch to the current capacity. Work Partners has been able to adapt quickly to our needs and we have been able to work together to ensure that we have the right systems in place to handle this recruitment operation.

Stuart McGill, the CEO of Work Partners, has a long association with our organisation working as a fundraising consultant and in various business relationships delivering thousands of monthly donors over a period of years. I have found Stuart’s advice on both direct monthly donor recruitment and other fund raising projects to be sound and pragmatic.”
